By Caitline Ann Blinder, Northern State University
This project combines sound and narrative to describe the author’s experiences as a neurodivergent student in the classroom. The author has hyperacusis, an intolerance of ordinary environmental sounds. She discusses her experiences along with rhetorical scholarship on sound to show how she has adapted to the classroom. Her argument enables others to see how some neurodivergent students hear the classroom and suggests ways for teachers to accommodate students.
