Project Timeline-RoboCop (14.1)

  1. Week of October 24th, 2022:
    a. Assignment is introduced. Began brainstorming topics. Rewatched RoboCop
    (1987) for unrelated reasons.
  2. Week of October 31st, 2022:
    a. Decided on the topic for my project, as well as the genre of commentary vlog.
    Outlined the basic argument, including reasons and evidence, and explained the
    conceit in the project proposal assignment. Composed the script for the video.
  3. Week of November 7th, 2022:
    a. Read aloud the script to determine its length and edited it down to fit time
    constraints. Placed the entire script of the video in the farthest left column of a
    3-column table. In the center column, decided on and wrote down the image/video
    cues that coincided with each line of the video script. In the farthest right column,
    wrote the coinciding sound and music cues.
  4. Week of November 14th, 2022:
    a. Based on information in the center and farthest right columns, gathered all of the
    image, video, sound, and music for the video and saved them to a file. Recorded a
    first draft of the script audio and found that the quality was garbage. Researched
    how to record higher-quality audio with zero budget. Filled a coat closet with
    blankets, towels, and other sound-absorbing items. Locked self in the coat closet
    and recorded the script audio.
  5. Week of November 21st, 2022:
    a. With all elements of the video gathered, began assembling the video. Uploaded all
    of the elements to the video editing app, placed them in order, and began
    cutting/splicing the elements so that they coincided with and overlaid one another,
    as outlined in script/image/sound document. When satisfied, uploaded the draft as
    an unlisted video to YouTube and added a link to the video to the beta draft
    assignment. Submitted the proposal document, and also submitted a link to the
    beta draft of the video to the peer review discussion portal to enable my peers to
    view and comment on the video.
  6. Week of November 28th, 2022:
    a. Video project proposal is due. Beta draft of video project is due. Received
    feedback on both the proposal and the beta draft. Using feedback from my peers
    and instructor, re-wrote some elements of the video and added lines to the script.
    Re-entered the coat closet and recorded new audio for all of the lines of the script
    that were changed. Added the updated audio to the project and made slight edit to image/video/sound/music to make sure they aligned with updated audio.
    Uploaded the final draft as an unlisted YouTube video.
  7. Week of December 5th, 2022:
    a. Drafted and composed a reflective essay about the project. Submitted the final
    draft, as well as the reflective essay.
  8. Week of December 12th, 2022:
    a. Final videos due. Reflective essay due. Showcase of video projects in class.
